Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about travel advisors, the booking process, costs, and what to expect when you work with Travel by Braeden.
A travel advisor plans, books, and manages your trip on your behalf — but the real value is in the expertise and advocacy they bring to the process. I research the right resort, cruise, or destination for your specific travel style, timing, and budget, present you with honest options, handle the actual booking, and stay available as your point of contact from the first conversation to the moment you're home.
Think of it as having someone in your corner who knows the product, watches the market, and genuinely cares about how your trip turns out — not just whether the transaction went through.
Online booking platforms are designed to get you to click "confirm" as quickly as possible. They don't know you, your travel history, or what actually makes a trip great for you. They won't call the resort when something goes wrong, and they don't have access to the amenity programs that can turn a standard stay into an exceptional one.
I bring product knowledge, preferred partner access, and genuine accountability to every booking. For most leisure travel, you pay the same price — or less — while getting significantly more support and expertise.
I'm an independent certified travel advisor affiliated with Fora Travel, a modern host agency that gives me access to industry-leading preferred partner programs, booking tools, and support — while allowing me to operate independently and focus exclusively on my clients.
You get the personal attention of an independent advisor backed by the network and resources of a major agency.
My primary focus is Atlantic Canada — I specialize in departures from Halifax (YHZ) and Moncton (YQM) and know those markets well. That said, I work with clients across Canada. If you're outside Atlantic Canada and want to work together, reach out and we can discuss whether I'm the right fit.
No — in most cases you pay the same price as booking direct, and sometimes less. Travel advisors have access to wholesale rates, exclusive packages, and promotional pricing that isn't always available to the public.
On top of that, hotel stays booked through my preferred partner programs often come with added value — room upgrades, daily breakfast, resort credits, early check-in, late checkout — that you simply can't get booking direct or through a consumer platform.
For most leisure travel — all-inclusive packages, cruises, hotel stays, and custom itineraries — I'm paid a commission by the supplier (resort, cruise line, hotel) after your trip is booked and deposited. This commission is built into the price of the product and doesn't come out of your pocket.
For group travel and corporate incentive programs, a planning fee may apply. If that's the case, it will always be discussed and agreed upon upfront before any work begins — no surprises.
None. Transparent pricing is one of my core commitments. If a fee applies to your booking — whether it's a supplier service charge, a group planning fee, or anything else — I'll tell you about it before you commit to anything. You'll always know exactly what you're paying and why.
I'll walk you through the cancellation and change policies for your specific booking before you confirm anything — so you understand exactly what flexibility you have. If changes need to be made, I handle the communication with the supplier on your behalf.
This is one of the most valuable parts of working with an advisor. Instead of spending hours on hold with a resort or cruise line, you call or message me.
Fill out the intake form on my website — it takes about two minutes and covers the basics: travel dates, destination preferences, budget range, and group size. Once I receive it, I'll be in touch within one business day to set up a conversation and start building your trip.
It depends on the type of trip. For all-inclusive packages departing from Atlantic Canada, 3–6 months ahead is ideal — it gives you the best room category selection and pricing. For cruises, especially popular itineraries, 6–12 months in advance is recommended. For peak travel periods like March Break, Christmas, and summer, booking earlier is always better.
That said, last-minute deals do happen — so if you have a flexible timeline, reach out and I'll tell you what's realistic.
I'll review your intake details and reach out within one business day to schedule a short discovery conversation. We'll talk through your goals, preferences, and budget in more detail — then I'll get to work researching options and come back to you with a curated shortlist. From there, once you've chosen your trip, I handle everything: booking, confirmations, and pre-departure details.
Yes. From the first conversation to your return home, I'm your single point of contact. If something comes up before or during your trip — a flight delay, a room issue, a question about an activity — you reach out to me and I'll handle it or guide you through it.
Yes. I can book standalone flights through Huntington Travel Group, a wholesale consolidator with access to competitive Canadian-origin fares. I also book package deals that include flights through WestJet Vacations, Air Canada Vacations, and Sunwing — which often offer better value than booking flights and hotels separately.
Absolutely. Families, friend groups, destination weddings, milestone trips, and corporate groups are all part of what I do. Group bookings often come with additional perks — room blocks, group rates, and coordinated logistics — that make the process smoother for everyone involved.
For larger groups and corporate incentive programs, a planning fee may apply and will be discussed upfront.
Through Fora Travel's preferred partner network — which includes Four Seasons, Marriott STARS & LUMINOUS, Hyatt Privé, Hilton for Luxury, Rosewood Elite, and many others — hotel bookings often come with:
Complimentary room upgrades (subject to availability) · Daily breakfast for two · Resort or dining credits ($25–$100 depending on the property) · Early check-in and late checkout · VIP recognition from the property
These amenities are not available when booking directly or through consumer platforms like Hotels.com or Expedia.
Yes. I work with Allianz Canada and can help arrange travel insurance for Canadian travellers. Travel insurance is something I strongly recommend for every trip — and I'll always discuss your options as part of the booking process.
An all-inclusive resort is a fixed location — you stay at one property where food, drinks, and amenities are included in your rate. It's ideal for guests who want to relax, not think about costs, and have everything in one place.
A cruise is a floating hotel that visits multiple destinations. Your cabin, most meals, and entertainment are included, but you get the variety of waking up in a new port every day. Cruises suit travellers who want to see more destinations without constantly repacking.
Both have their strengths — the right choice depends on your travel style, group, and goals. That's exactly the kind of conversation I love having.
My primary specializations are Caribbean and Mexico all-inclusives and ocean cruises — particularly for Atlantic Canadians departing from YHZ and YQM. I have deep product knowledge across Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, and the broader Caribbean.
I also plan custom itineraries, European travel, Mediterranean cruises, and group/corporate trips globally. If you have a destination in mind, reach out — if it's somewhere I can't serve well, I'll tell you honestly.
You contact me. That's the short answer. Whether it's a flight disruption, a room that doesn't match what was booked, or an issue at the resort, I'll work with the supplier on your behalf to get it resolved. You're not navigating it alone through a generic customer service line.
This is also why travel insurance matters — and why I always recommend it. It's a layer of protection I'll help you put in place before you leave.
For international travel — which includes all Caribbean, Mexican, and cruise destinations — yes, a valid Canadian passport is required. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. Some destinations also have specific entry requirements (visas, health forms, etc.) which I'll walk you through as part of your trip preparation.
Fill out the intake form and include your question — I'll get back to you within one business day.
