In short: I collect only what I need to plan and book your trip, and to send my newsletter if you ask for it. I share it only with Fora Travel and the travel companies that deliver your trip. I never sell it. You can ask to see, correct or delete it at any time by emailing braeden.lines@fora.travel.
Who I am
Travel by Braeden is the travel advisory practice of Braeden Lines, an independent travel advisor of Fora Travel, based in Amherst, Nova Scotia (TICO #50027942 · CPBC #88694). In this policy, "I", "me" and "my" mean Braeden Lines operating as Travel by Braeden.
This policy explains how I handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). It applies to this website and to the information you share with me when you plan or book travel.
What I collect
When you get in touch. Your name, email, phone number, departure airport, travel dates or window, who is travelling, budget, and anything else you choose to tell me about the trip.
When you book. The details the travel companies require: full legal names as they appear on passports, dates of birth, passport details, contact information, emergency contacts, loyalty numbers, and, only if you share them, accessibility, dietary or medical needs relevant to your travel.
Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address and the date you gave consent.
Payment. Card payments are processed through secure supplier and Fora Travel systems. I do not keep your full card number.
This website. The hosting provider (Netlify) keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.
The planning form
The "Start Planning" buttons open a planning form hosted by Fora Travel, Inc. on secure.foratravel.com. What you submit there goes into my client file in Fora's system so I can reply to you. Fora's handling of that information is also covered by the Fora Travel traveller privacy policy.
My newsletter
The newsletter sign-up on this site is processed by Netlify, which stores your email address so I can add you to my list. I only email you if you ticked the consent box, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also unsubscribe at any time by emailing me.
Cookies and analytics
When analytics are switched on, a banner asks on your first visit whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies. Nothing loads unless you click Accept.
If you accept, the site uses:
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) to count visits and see which pages and social posts bring people here. IP addresses are anonymised.
- The Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.) to measure how my Facebook and Instagram posts and ads perform, and to show my ads to people who have visited this site.
These tools set cookies and collect information such as pages viewed, links clicked (including the planning form button), device and browser type, and approximate location. Google and Meta process this information in the United States under their own privacy policies: Google and Meta. I see only combined statistics and ad results, not who you are.
If you click Decline, neither tool runs. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie Settings" at the bottom of the home page, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
How I use your information
- To answer your questions, research options and send you quotes.
- To make, manage and change bookings, and to help if something goes wrong while you travel.
- To keep the records that travel regulators, suppliers and tax law require.
- To send my newsletter and travel offers, only if you have agreed to receive them.
I do not use your information for anything unrelated to your travel without asking you first.
Who I share it with
- Fora Travel, the host agency I work with, which provides the booking, client file and payment systems I use.
- Travel suppliers such as tour operators, airlines, cruise lines, hotels, transfer companies and tour providers, so they can deliver what you booked.
- Insurance providers, only when you choose to buy travel insurance. You purchase coverage directly from the insurer.
- Service providers that run this website and my email, such as Netlify, Google and Meta, as described above.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, for example passenger data required by Canadian or foreign border agencies.
I never sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Information stored outside Canada
Fora Travel, Netlify, Google and Meta are based in the United States, and many airlines, cruise lines, hotels and booking systems store data in the United States or in the country you are visiting. Your information may therefore be processed outside Canada, where it can be accessed by courts, law enforcement and national security authorities under local law.
Consent
By sending me your details, you agree that I can use them to plan and book your trip as described here. When you give me information about other travellers in your group, please make sure they agree to you sharing it. You can withdraw consent at any time, though I may then be unable to complete a booking.
How long I keep it
I keep enquiry details for up to two years so I can help with future trips, unless you ask me to delete them sooner. Booking records are kept for at least seven years to meet tax, accounting and travel industry record-keeping rules, and then securely deleted. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
How I protect it
Your information is kept in password-protected, secure systems, including Fora's client management platform and my business email. I limit what I collect, never post client details publicly, and never ask you to email full card numbers.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete what I am not required to keep. Email braeden.lines@fora.travel and I will reply within 30 days. A paper copy of this policy is available on request.
